NY Texile Month 2021, success for the exhibition by Yi Hsuan Sung on view at Society Limonta flagship store in Soho
NYC echoes the excitement of the recent Super Salone with the NY Textile Month 2021 edition and the first collaboration with SoHo Design District. Among the different initiatives there is Soft Sanctuary, the collaborative project of textile artists Sanya Sharma, Pallavi Padukone and Yi Hsuan Sung's.
This immersive sensorial environment expresses their shared joy of the handmade. Individually their practices explore the fields of fragrance integrated in textiles, natural fibers, 3D spatial handwoven installations, and floral lighting objects made from seaweed.
Soft Sanctuary is the curation of work born out of their apartments in isolation during the uncertainty of 2020 to weave together stories of time, spaces, and nostalgia. Honoring natural materials and making, using creative craft forms has been their means of meditation and staying connected.
The Agar Flowers were on view September 10th - 30th Society Limonta store – 78 Grand street. The exhibition culminated in a workshop hosted by the artist Yi Hsuan Sung. During the 1-hour lesson, the attendants learnt the process of making agar flowers and the artist demonstrated her agar flower making system, answering questions about her studio practice.
